Our Mission

To ensure that the teaching of Vatican II Council on the “sacred scripture in the life of the Church” in the Dogmatic Constitution Dei Verbum chapter VI, nos.21-26, are implemented through pastoral options and actions in Africa and the Island’s local Churches.

Our Vision

That the Word of God may be known, loved, pondered and preserved in the hearts of the faithful (cf.Lk 2:19-51) in Africa and the surrounding Islands, through greater access to Sacred Scriptures and scriptural formation for clergy, religious, catechists and the laity.

To Safeguard Creation, Catholic Development Agencies in Africa Urge “more robust policies” Prioritizing Climate Justice

What happens when the poor live side by side with the rich, yet remain unseen?

In today’s Gospel (Luke 16:19–31), Jesus tells the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus—a man feasting in luxury while a poor beggar suffers at his very gate. The sin of the rich man was not his wealth, but his indifference. He lived side by side with suffering, yet did nothing.

Fr. Stan reflects on this piercing parable in light of the prophet Amos’ warning against the elites of Israel and St. Paul’s call to “fight the good fight.” Together, these readings challenge us to see the Lazaruses at our own gates, to let our faith become compassion, and to resist the temptation to make the poor invisible.

The Gospel reminds us that religious rituals ring hollow if they are not joined with justice and mercy. Will we be a Church of indifference—or a Church of compassion, solidarity, and love?
